is there a deck out there that plays mp3s from DVD-Rs ???

Considering the price you'd pay for something like that, I'd buy a cheap laptop, put the mp3s on the HD, and download linux. That way, you'd have a large storage device( which i assume is what you're after w/ the DVDR, ) and even have a large screen for visuals. Not to mention software equalizers / effects, and fun stuff like that.

Get creative, and do some googling!

Pricewatch.com for cheap notebooks.

Im sure that Pioneer will Not play a MP3/DVD because the avic-n1 and the 2 other flip-outs wont because I have tryed and failed. Then again they would not play any burned DVD's and only played premastered DVD's. I would look at that alpine though.

that pioneer says that it plays dvd-rs why wouldnt it work?

Key Features:

» detachable, fold-down face

» plays DVDs, DVD-R/RWs, CDs, CD-R/RWs, and MP3 discs

see it says it plays dvd-rs and dvd-rws

have u tried this same exact pioneer? cuz thats wut its advertiseing if it duznt play that then they would get sued, or u'd atleast get ure money back, so the pioneer should work......

I'm not trying to be mean here or anything but doesn't it seem a tad lazy to justify the need for mp3 on dvd? I mean yes I see the point, you could store so many songs. But whats so hard about burning tons to cd's? Just keep a few of them in your car (cd's that is)? Again this isn't intended as a kick or anything, i'm curious to your motives? Are you planning on running at some seriously high bit rate or something? Or are you trying to just squeeze as many songs as you can onto a dvd?

I agree with some of the other posts that a cheap laptop would do the trick. If not that, look into car pc's. Aurora? I think thats one of the names of an in car pc. You could store whatever you wanted then (80gigs ect).

Not that player said above, I said that the flip-outs I have tried did not work and since that they did not work, one would think that it would not work on that model IMO. If it said that it playes DVD-R/RW's then it sould and like what you say, thats not correct advertiseing and sould be justified. I would say, find someone that has one or a shop that has one, test is with a DVD-/+R movie and one with MP3's on it.

I can answer this. No. There isn't a deck made that'll play MP3s off DVDs. I've looked. I'd expect the next generation stuff to be able to do this, and it'd be the only way I'd justify buying an in-dash DVD.
