Is the alpine MRV-M500 1 ohm stable ?

Need to know if the Alpine MRV-M500 is 1 ohm stable would it work would it fry ? Wanting to run a Sundown 12 on it 500 watss @ 2 ohm would work but why not more power.. thanks!

It will work, but will put out the power it's rated to at 4 ohms. At least, that was the case with my old MRX-M100. You can do it, you'll just lose power output.

Whys that ? I thought the lower ohm load it ALWAYS increases wattage?

A safety precaution they built in so the amp doesn't fry itself.
