is the 80prs excessive for me?

well its time to upgrade my head unit. after checking out the pioneer 80prs ive fallen in love and i cant wait until i can get my hands on one. now heres my concern - i have a basic 1 amp setup running to 2 kicker cvrs in the trunk. and i plan on keeping it that way. i need a headunit that will put good sound quality without an amp for mids and highs. with that being said do i really need something like the 80prs with 5v preouts and 3 way crossover and all that fun stuff... or can i get pretty much the same thing out of cheaper unit?

figured :/ any recommendations?

i dont plan on upgrading much mainly because of the small alternator in my car. i def dont want to upgrade that.

you don't have to upgrade the alternator to get better sound. there are plenty of low power better subs out there like the SSA Dcon only 300rms and $124.99 for the twelve inch

Hey man, you don't need a big alternator to upgrade. I've got one of the smallest, 70a alt, and it handles my system just fine. If the only reason you don't want a decent system is because of your alternator, that's not much of a reason at all.

That said, Grimy hit it pretty good. upper-end JVC, mid-level Alpine or Kenwood. I personally don't like the newer Alpine stuff cus the decks are so basic, and they make you pay out the ass for any simple upgraded feature you might want.

yeah i was pretty turned off by the $150 bluetooth adapter needed for alpine units. while most headunits $100 and up have bluetooth built in.

i have a 60 amp alternator. LMAO

as of now im liking this jvc JVC Arsenal KD-A95BT CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

and that pioneer in my last post Pioneer DEH-P9400BH CD Receiver at Crutchfield.com

kenwood doesnt really seem to have any units in my range (that im seeing) besides the x995 which was just discontinued. im sure i can still find it somewhere though. Kenwood Excelon KDC-X995 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

i just dont want to get something im not happy with. just trying to get the best sound out of what i got. i dont mind spending the money if its worth it. sorry if im the most indecisive person in the world lol

60a alt is still plenty for decent substage and amped speakers. I have over 1500w on my 70a alt :p I'm sure you could do a

Both those HU's look good. The Kenwood X-995 is very similar, and imo, not as good as my x-994. But the x-994 or x-995 would both be a good bet. They're all gonna do the same thing. With the Kenwoods and JVC, you can do time alignment. Pioneer doesn't seem to have T/A, but you can do an active set-up. If you're not planning on upgrading speakers, then the active capabilities are worthless, but T/A can be beneficial.

thank you so much. with all this being said im leaning towards the jvc. ive got some time to think things through because it isnt even out yet. all 3 units are very similar and i dont think i really can go wrong with any of them.

oh and maybe ill screw around with my setup a bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif gotta start with the head unit though. thanks again.
