Is ok to crank the gains

type R's can get fairly loud...

you just don't have enough power to them...

in your case, cranking your gains causing clipping wont do an awful lot of damage... the speakers power handling is far enough above what it is seeing, even with teh square wave it might be seeing that you will have a tough time hurting it...

I have to disagree with you here. I fed my subs 75 watts each with a clipped signal and it damaged them and they're made for 250 rms. I don't own an eclipse amp, but maybe the amp requires you to turn the gains way up. Afterall the eclipse decks are made with 8 volt outputs, so if your deck is designed with 2 volt outputs or less you would have to turn the gain up quite a bit for it to work.
