Will absolutely make a difference. The headunit is the beginning of the entire sound system and because of this the most important piece. The 9887 is easy for iPod controls. For $220ish you can get the 9887 and the KCE-422i cord shipped to you. The remainder can be spent on deadener.

So the 9887 is probably one the of best options in the 200-250 range?

Absolutely. Along with the Eclipse and Pioneer listed. The downfall to those is that they require additional modules which cost more money to get iPod functionality where the 9887 does not.

On another note, I've never installed a stereo before (CarToys), all I need is the harness right?

What you will need depends on the vehicle it will go in. Newer cars require a CanBus system. Older ones all you need should be the wiring harness.

I would put a Want To Buy thread up looking for a 9887. It will help you find one a bit quicker

EDIT- Nevermind. Snag this up. You get the iPod Cable, blue tooth, and the headunit.

Id grab the one I linked to. For an extra $30 you get bluetooth. Generally $200-$220 is what they go for. Id buy it from here instead.
