is my amp dying?

i didn't have any problems with it before it was doing fine it wouldn't even dim my lights or cut out then suddenly today it just randomly cut out for a long time so i turned it off. then i turned it back on and it keeps cutting out more and i turned the gain down a lot and subwoofer level down to the point i can barely hear it but it's still cutting out. is my amp pretty much dead or on its last legs now? it's a kicker dx1000.1 and wired at 2 ohm

Double check your wiring.

Power at both the battery and the amp, ground at both the ground point on the chassis (no seatbelt bolt!) and the amp, sub at both the box and the amp, check all of them, make sure nothing is loose.

checked all the connections. ground is solid i've used it for 3 amps and none have ever given me problems. nothings loose it randomly just started cutting out today even after turning the gain down a lot. only thing i can think of is i did get a new sub and they could have accidently sent me a dual 2 ohm instead of dual 4 ohm so i could be wired at 1 ohm instead of 2 but that's pretty unlikely. is it possible for an amp just to shit itself like that without completely blowing?

oh and i guess i should say that this amp has cut out before probably from too much power being drawn but i got the big 3 mostly done and turned the gain down a little and that fixed it. so idk if it could randomly just be drawing a lot more power than normal for some reason
