Is MDF porous?

I created this video at work of our CNC router table. It has a vacuum connected to it and a piece of 1/2" mdf is laid on top. When the video starts the vacuum is off and the paper glides across freely. The vacuum is then turned on and it creates a suction THROUGH the mdf and makes the paper stop.

We know dis.... That's why people are supposed to coat their speaker baffles in resin. Also, most boxes are done with 3/4" MDF, I wonder if that would make a difference?

I'm going to take a 3/4" piece to work and see what it does. I was surprised it is able to create that much suction. I knew it was porous but not to the point of what it is. I'm not saying that most of you guys didn't know this. I know people have questioned the porosity of MDF and figured this was a good answer to the question.

Yea, I'll definitely agree, I didn't think it was THAT porous... that is impressive. Was it a super vacuum? haha

You can see the vacuum near the end of the video on the floor. It's pretty large. Not sure of the hp rating on it but it is 3 phase.

exactly....resin is ALWAYS a good idea,i never build a box without resin no matter what materials i use
