Is It Possible?

Hey fellas! What's up? Anyway, I was wondering if it was possible to hook a sub up into a computer system. Like right now im running some altec lansing 2.1 speakers with a small *****y sub. Is there anyway I could buy lets say like a 10" sub and build a box and hook it up instead of the stock sub? Im sure its a lot more complicated than I am willing to do, but I figured it would be worth a try.

This question has been answered a thousand times...but anyway...

You need a plate amp to power the subwoofer. However, upgrading the sub without first ditching those cheap computer speakers would be a waste of your time and money.

Yeah I know what you are saying...

I just dont really have the funds to build some nice speakers and system for my dorm setup... i wish i did....

Im just jealous my friends new logitech sub is louder than mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

well. save up some money, get a nice amplifier that will do like 100x4@4 or somthing, and get a pair of RLi 10's and build some DIY bookshelves //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

That would work, but surround sound just isnt really possible in my dorm room.

I dont want to be invading on my roomys space and shit...

Basically, I want 2 speakers with a sub for cheap...

I mean I could just got buy the better speakers, I was just thinking maybe it would be cheaper/louder to hook up a sub

Yes we have gone over this a million times. You have to go with 1 18 inch temult. 2 15's or 2 18's would be way overkill they say for a dorm. I am in the same situation that you are in. I will save up for the speakers after i get the subs. Probably go with some cdt stuff.
1. Show me where we said you "have to go with an 18" Tumult".

2. CDT doesn't make home audio products.

What the **** was I thinking?
I should have just asked you... Judging from your work, you seem to be so ****ing amazing at this audio shit
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif please, whether or not i know anything doesn't deter the fact that this literally IS the most often asked question in the HA/V forum; blow me.
