Is it possible to use factory BT mic with aftermarket HU?

I assume that all stock HU's have a 2 wire mic that plugs somewhere in the back of the unit or within the wiring harness. If one is able to locate these wires can it be tapped into for aftermarkets mic jac so that you do not need to use the exposed, cheap, aftermarket mic?

Anyone ever do this?

Depending on how the OEM moc hooks up you maybe able to solder it to a 3.5mm Jack then it can plug in (that's what my mic connects three)

I know there are wiring harnesses for my 14 focus that hook up to an am headunit that retain the factory Sync. Not sure on details. I think it's all in the wiring harness. Almost every factory BT is tied to the radio unit.

im short it is vehicle dependent and even if you get it working the mic will more than likely not work as well as the one designed to work with the radio. I have successfully done this on a challenger but mic compatibility was an issue. You are better off finding the factory mic and placing the aftermarket mic in the same location to get the factory look with aftermarket perfomance
