Is it possible to blow

you just got a bad batch ....get another, or move on..... both your coax and comps went to shyt, why dont you track down who you bought'm from....you should have a screen name/paypal addy and see if he'll warranty them.....
I purchased the following equipment from one of your distributors
Sounds like he bought them authorized.

I bought them off Tim French and I contacted him first and he informed me to contact CDT directly and they should be covered.

I'm curious how they know it was an improper gain setting when you didn't even mention in your e-mail where your gain was set or what your headunit's output voltage was.
Sounds to me like they are trying to pass the buck to you for a shoddy product (manufacturer defect or whatnot). Which is BS.
That's exactly what I'm saying, How would they even know. I'm just trying to find out if it's even possible with my set up considering the gains are pretty low and my HU is 2 volts.

Also a DMM was used to set the gains.

Ok know you mention that:eyebrow: sounds fishy.
If it was set properly, it was probably a defect.
They just sent me this email:

electrical parts on xovers and speaker coils don't blow up unless

there is a problem with the signal fed into the parts, that's a fact, can't

change that. Many many people thing their gains are set correctly but most

often it is not. Also many people don¹t hear when a signal is distorted.

That's why you need to re set the gains again to make sure this is not

happening again.

Wow, dont let them talk down to you. Electronic components are not only destroyed by a bad signal. Defects happen all the time. Every piece of electronic equipment on the X-over has the possability to go up in smoke with one clean watt. It's called defects.

They are being ars holes to you. Trying to put the full blame on you...

One thing that needs to be considered that hasn't been mentioned yet is if the head unit is sending a clipped signal to the amp it will be amplified. Do you find yourself cranking the volume near it's limit to gain the desired listening level? Just a thought.

Electronics aren't inherently immune to defects. Shit happens. Either in the manufacturing process of the specific components, or in the craftsmanship of assembling them into a crossover (or whatever).

I'd call them on their BS of trying to place the blame on you and acting as if they are "too good" to have a defective product.

Hell, give me the e-mail addy of the person you are in contact with. I'll tell them what I'm thinking. I've never been a fan of CDT to begin with, much less when they are playing the "holier than thou" card and blaming the customer for their own mistakes.

Also, do some searching and see if you can find similar problems that other users had. If so, then send them links and start to push towards manufacturer error and all that good stuff. I know they said they will fix them for you, so this info is just incase you decide to persue them on the fact thatthey are talking to you like a little child.

This recount of the way their customer service department is treating someone is certainly not the kind of positive PR a company that builds products of CDT's assumed quality range would want.

One of the DAT M6 sets I bought from eBay came with two sets of tweets. Reason being is the original owner didn't care for the sound of the originally supplied tweets when he first bought them and wrote to DAT to share his views. They wrote back and told him that he was not the first customer to complain of harshness out of the M6 tweeter and sent him an upgraded set - for free! When I got the whole set from him off eBay he sent me the mids and crossovers along with both the original tweeters that came with them when he purchased them, the letter from DAT, and the upgraded tweeter set.

^^^^THAT'S good customer service (on DAT's part), IMO //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I got my message across in my last email, he just responded a little more respectful and said that they will take a look at it when it gets to them.

Lol, people like that just need to be smacked and told straight.

Good job.
