Is it ok to put midbass speakers in a sealed enclosure?

I have the same kind of problem. Because im putting my system in my 72 chevelle and its white leather i dont wanna cut any of the doors up. So im not sure how im going to put my componets or mid bass in my car? any body have any ideas?

Totally depends on the speaker in question. Some speakers (including midbass) are optimized to perform in infinite baffle setups (i.e. no box), because they were designed to work in car doors or on rear-decks. These speakers would likely not perform well in a small sealed enviorment.

Other speakers, such as the RE XXX mids, would work well in a small sealed enclosure.

Also, where do you plan on placing these midbass speakers? As mentioned in the other thread, you don't want your main midbass speakers behind you.

Either make door pods out of fiberglass that go on top of the door and attach in a non-permanent way (like via velcro or something), or make kickpanels.

Because you want the sound to radiate from in front of you for proper imaging and such. Correlate it to a concert; when you go to a live concert, does the band stand behind you or infront of you??
it's just too bad i don't have a porsche so i can get my sub state up front as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
