Is it my speakers or the song?

One of my favorite CD's lately has been Urban Legend by T.I.

Hopefully someone here is familiar with the CD. One of my favorite songs is The Greatest, feat. Manny Fresh. I love the beat.

However, there is this one part of the song that sounds like it's distorting to all hell, but I don't know if it's my setup, the song, or what. It's the part right before the chorus when the beat starts to build. The part also repeats in the middle of T.I.'s verses. It sounds like straight static to me.

But I don't think it's my speakers because my setup is alright for starters. Kenwood KDC-MP4028 Head Unit, and Type S 6.5" coaxials in the doors(single cab F-150) It sounds great on my other songs and CD's, nice and clean. I just don't know why it sounds so bad on this song.

Are you using an active Crossover on it? Not familiar with that HU.

No, I just listened to the song on my computer and that one part sounds just as bad. I'm sure it's the song, not the setup.

It's the actual CD, from Best Buy. As I've said before, I have 1 pair of 6.5" coaxials in the doors, powered by the Kenwood HU. Gets loud and sounds clean on every song, just not that one particular part on that one song.

Is the cd all scratched up? Im sure that that could have an effect on the way the song plays.

Try changing the bass/treble settings that might help. Or the volume might be up too high for that song my speakers distort when I turn up the volume too high for some songs but on others its fine at the same level.

try it in somone elses car.

im guessing that the low RMS of the hu (under 20w per channel max) and the weak coaxials are the problem.

i dont think its the disc... and i cant see why your computer would do the same thing, unless those are low quality speakers as well.

definatly sounds like your setup is the problem - imo

Try listenting to it at a very low volume on both your comp and car setup. If you still hear it in both cases, then it's cd inherent. Heck I'll download a copy right now.

i think some should actually hear what this song actually sounds like, its got some wicked, 'hard' beats.....

And no, my Altec Lansing cheapo comp speakers cant play it well either.....
