Is it me or is this a stupid idea?

I took my truck to get my Rainbow Germaniums installed just let me explain what they insist on me having done....

Equipment being used:

-Rainbow Germanium 265's

-Pioneer 880

-DLS CA41 amp (4x70w)

ok what I WANTED DONE was for them to bi-amp the germaniums and run no rear fill but they said they won't do that because i will blow the speakers out of the door because that is too much power for the germs (i don't understand they can take 150w and bi-amp would only be 140w:confused: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif)

SO...

they want me to use two channels for the germs (only 70w a piece????) and run the other two to the rears for fill with some cheap coaxials......they also told me they would mount the tweets in the door panels which i wanted.....then they said it would sound better for me to use the factory and germ tweets and run the factory ones off the head unit (ive never heard of two sets of tweets before???)

so basically im really pissed off right now tell me what u guys think of this

i have heard of people running more than one set of tweet. normally though they have 2 comp sets (4 mids 4 tweets). sounds like they just want to sell you a set of coax's.

im sure someone else will say this also but, why dont you just install them yourself? if youve never done it before it seems it may be difficult but it really is not.

Whatever shop you took your gear to has absolutely no business having their hands on any brand names appreciably better than Pyramid and Pyle.

Look elsewhere for your install needs.

i meant 140 to each set of tweets and mids

i have to get my stuff installed here because my dad is really good friends with the owner of the shop and he will get pissed if i don't

i was plannin on doin it myself but its only me and i have never done it before the only way i could do it is if someone helped me that had some experience

im really pissed off right now i knew i wasn't that dumb

If you want to drive up to Gurnee I'll help you with the install for a reasonable fee. Assuming you have ALL the install stuff required: amp kit, wiring adapter, etc... That way you'll learn how to do it yourself and will be prepared when the upgrade bug bites.

Shoot me a PM if interested.

personally from what they are telling you, I wouldnt get the equipment installed there. I would take my equipment elsewhere.
x2.

and the only time its a good idea to run 2 sets of tweets is like the image enhancement cdt has but i dont even know how good that is

if it were me, i still wouldn't take it there. If your dad's friend isn't listening to you why should you have to listen to his advise? worst comes to worst he will just be upset its not like he will murder you for not going to him...i would hope

WOW.

That advice sounds STRAIGHT hackjob redneck and I would suggest taking your equipment elsewhere. The only thing I would be concerned about would be blowing the tweet without a proper X-over point @ 70 watts. Some tweets can handle that power but not so much if run at 1000-1500htz

ya i just called back and wanted to clarify to them and he finally mentioned that the tweeters were the reason he didn't want to bi-amp them because he was pretty sure they would blow

i asked about leaving the stock tweets in and he said the reason he likes to do that is because when u have the tweets and mids in the doors next to eachother the soundstage is not so much in front of you and by leaving the stock tweets in which won't be that loud just as more of a fill it will bring the soundstage up more

sounds like that makes more sense now so i guess well see on friday how it sounds
