ok so ive been looking in to getting me a CB radio and im just wondering what every ones opinion is on CB radios are they dead and not worth spending the money on or are they still alive and kicking and would be worth the money spent on them .i know when i was growing up i saw Cb radios every where almost now their few and far between i was just wanting to get one cause of the kinda old school flair they have

HAM radio is more fun than CB. I don't think there are nearly as many people on CB since the invention of the Cell Phone.

well i be dammed right after i posted this my father in law call me and and tells me he has a uniden pc 66 a that he is willing to give me for free all i need to get is an antenna and a mounting bracket for it . im just wondering is there any mods for this thing and is it any good

Unless you know what you are doing and have some decent test equipment I wouldn't recommending modifying any RF circuit; watt meter, VSWR meter, really good volt meter would be a bare minimum. A spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, and RF milivolter would be preferred in addition to the minimum.

Also, what are you looking to do? Just to chat with people on the CB?

baselicky i would be just talking on it and try to get a smokey report .but it would be nice to have one with upper and lower side bands but that's about it .

cb isnt dead, i still run a mobile and a base. its really fun when skip starts rolling and the sun spots are right. you can talk all the way around tha world with very little power. got any questions pm me...

It cuts down tree branches on faster roads and really does damage to the roof tops of covered gas stations. Watch out if you wheel though. Got caught in a tree once and whipped back taking out my windshield with it. Scared the shit out of me. Thought someone was shooting at us.

i have a cb cobra 29 ltx and i love it.. i have a 6 foot antenna also.... i use it when im offroading or to contact truckers to see if there are any cops ahead
