anyone who has experimented/owned the sub i would like to know what the best box/power combos you found were?

i was running it in a 3.5cuft tuned to 31hz with 2k and it was okish....i know shes capable of waaaaaaaaaaaay more but need opinions of other owners //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have an 07 XXX, but its also an 18 so im lookin for a lot different sound than you, but...

the 06 and 07 xxx's can handle a ton of power. call up RE and see what they recommend tossin on your XXX, but on mine they said it can eat 3,000 watts daily.

i'm putting mine in a 5-5.5 cu ft sealed box, right now on 1500-1600 watts, then eventually 3,000. give it more power, and put it in a sealed box if you wanna go REAL low //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

otherwise, if you wanna go ported, maybe go a little bigger and depending on the sound you want, maybe do 30hz or 35hz.

my sealed SE has more output off 500w than this has off 1k //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif i think im probably going to sell it,after installing a yellow top and not seeing any real gain in performance from my shot standard battery im not impressed. To get this thing going to its full potential i will need a much bigger power supply and amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif the alfa romeo only has a 55A alternator!!!

3.5 cubes seems kind of big. People were suggesting to put mine in a 2.1 cube box at 28 hz

the general views are:

1) biggest box poss

2) tune high and let the excursion drop it low

3) small box tuned low

Well, the RE website suggests 2.2 cubes at 34 hz for the 07 12", and i'm pretty sure the specs they had for the 06 weren't much different.

Well, I built the bottom one for my Kia, unfortunately while it would have fit inside my trunk, I neglected to measure my trunk opening before I built it, and shortly thereafter the tranny went out, so it never made it inside the trunk. Not sure what happened to the box. Right now I have the XXX in sealed 1 cube box. I have all my wood marked to be cut for the top box, so hopefully next week I'll have time to cut and put it all together.

It's getting 1200 watts from the 9.1. The bass is real punchy, but low end is lacking a bit. I'm hoping the box I'm building will alleviate that problem.

if you want tight/punchy bass, youll need to have a setup with a flat fq response, and most times you wont get that running ported unless you know how to design a ported box that will give you a flat response

ported graphs usually look like a mountain, thats why people use them if they want more output above around 25 or 30hz
