Is a tweeter necessary with aftermarket speakers?

I'm contemplating as to whether or not I want to install 1" tweeters in my sail panels...I have 3-way Pioneer 61/2" in my front doors, and Kenwood 5-way 6X9s in the rear deck. If I were to purchase a pair of tweeters, would it do much to my current listening experience?
