Is a single H/O alt enough? Do I need a batt bank?

Hey guys! I will have an saz-4500d coming in the mail soon and was wondering what kind of electrical system I will need to properly power it.

Right now I have an xs power d5100 up front (60ah) and an 120amp alternator. I plan on upgrading to a 250 amp alt soon which is really the biggest sized alt I can fit in my civic without the belt slipping.

That alone is quiet a bit of money, so I was wondering if I will need even more power to run the amp?

Will a 250amp alt and a d5100 up front enough be enough to at least give me decent power for a couple months until I have money to add another couple ah worth of batts?

Thanks guys!

I'm going to say yes, that amp has to draw upwards of 400a or more, if im wrong im sure someone will be here to correct me shortly lol, you dont still have the factory batt to throw back in under the hood with your xs?

I don't think I have the factory batt, but I do have an extra yellow top laying around! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if its in good condition it cant hurt to throw it in, low voltage is your enemy
Should be fine. I'll throw it on the trickle charger while I wait on the amp to come in. So a 250 amp alt, and 110ah worth of batteries should suffice for a little while? Yes?

When I talked to Mike Singer, he told me that his 200A Alternator for my Vehicle would be plenty for 3-4k RMS. So that could give you something to base it off of. You'll likely be fine when driving, but you're certainly going to want to get some reserve/AH in the near future.

Thanks for the info. Mike was actually the guy that I planned on getting my alt from, so that's good to know!
