Irritated with Ipod scrolling/New H/U

The scrolling & searching method on my Alpine is really starting to irritate me. At first it was no big deal, but the more songs I add to my Ipod the more it bugs me.

I'm unfamiliar with other H/U's and their Ipod interfaces, so could someone point me in the direction of a unit that's more user friendly than my 9856.

If there are any that are significantly better, I would consider ditching the alpine, since I rarely use discs anylonger.

I know that there are a million threads about Ipods, but I didnt see any discussing a better interface than Alpine (if there is one)

My issues are with the search funcions.

One: When you're searching, if you screw up or dont press the selected track in time you have to start back over at the very beginning of the library.

Two: the quick search function only displays numerically, so it's almost impossible to go directly to a particular song(unless you remember every song, by every artist, in every playlist)

Seems miniscule, but it can be pain when you have a very large library.

Anyway, just thought that maybe some of the other units have a better way of searching through large librarys.

I have a 9857 and the iPod thing gets on my nerves too. Making playlists helps out alot though. I really don't think it was designed to go to one paticular song that easily, just make playlists.

why not use the iPod itself and get an iPod to AiNet cable? That is what I do with my Pioneer 880. I do not believe an iPod interface via HU will ever compare to the iPod itself.

The Clarion VRX765VD (single din flip out touch screen) and the MAX675VD (double din touch screen, out end of Sep) have great iPod controls. they react on screen almost instantaniously.

Im sure your correct but I find it a pain to look at that little screen while I was doing 70mph to find a song. the pioneer was like using the ipod but a little slower scrolling. I have got rid of the ipod. I will be going with a mp3 changer, I know it wont hold as much but it will hold enough for me. As far as the new Alpines, I wouldnt buy just because theres no processing.

playlists are the key, do them alphabetically, or by music style. either way, it makes it alot quicker, if you really need access to every song at once, i would think scrolling on the 'pod itself is still a pain in the @$$.
