Question about the Pioneer head units and their ranges?

Still searching all the options for my Daughters car and noticed that the Pioneers are like 15-15000 where according to specs the optimum is 20-20000. Is this just an error in print or do these kind of **** on the top? Along the same lines the Pioneer tuner ratings is very high (gets channels in good) where my Eclipse sucks. Such a nice unit to have a sucky tuner! What other head units have really good tuners? I was thinking of giving her my Eclipse but since she will need a decent tuner it looks like the Pioneers may be her best bet. Does anyone know of a unit with a better tuner?

Don't worry about the frequency response. More often than not, it's based on the internal amp - which you shouldn't be using anyway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

As for radio reception, aftermarket units aren't known to have excellent tuners, as some of the replies in here are going to show it's not much of a priority. Best advice would be to get as good of an antenna as you can get...i.e, none of that "in-windshield" crap.

My opinion xm/sirius is the only way to go. My xm receiver running through my 8600mp sounds great. Can't hardly tell if the xm is playing or a cd.

Agreed, get XM or Sirius. I personally have XM and I won't ever go back to regular radio.

I have it in my car and that is great for Music, etc... but like last night where I wanted to listen to the football game I mainly got static out of the Eclipse where my old Pioneer gave pretty good reception. Every once in a while I go off XM because I don't like anything on there and the reception on the 5000 blows.

I am looking for an awesome Pioneer or other tuner HU for my Daughter's car since adding XM to her car right now isn't in her budget.

I have a Pioneer unit and the reception on my local radio stations is all trash, where my Clarion in the same car with the same antenna picks them up more clearly
