Iraggi alt and Kinetik batts

got off the phone with kinetik.

They know nothing of this "myth" about this combo but they did tell say that their batteries are not capable of accepting anything over 14.3v for long periods of time.

Long periods of time is 3-4hrs or long term abuse of over 14.3v.

What happens is the battery will swell and then start to permanently damage the cells.

so anyway complaining about their batt no longer holding a charge... regardless of what alt, it might be because you have been overcharging it.

So, now i gotta get in touch with Iraggi and see what his internally regulated alt he is buildin for me is gonna be set at and see if it can be set to where this doesnt happen.

I got a single run of 3/0 from front batt to rear.

I'll hook it up sometime within the next 2 weeks and see what voltage drop is from front or rear. That'll let me know if i can run Kinetik or not.

By this info though, i can see a lot of people potentially having problems with kinetik batts if they replaced their starting battery with one. Voltage drop there would be almost be non-existent.

Don't no all the details nor from who or what made that statement about it is bad. Why is it just kinetic they don't work with? Yea if a alt puts out power its gotta charge something. I know low voltage keeps batteries like kinetic, optima very under charged. If you do the combo just charge them over night every so often keep your eye on the batteries resting voltage if its setting below 12.5v charge it. I ran kinetic in the demo hummer for sema they told me they like to see 13.3/13.5v @ rest. Granted un-modded cars cannot keep it that high its just what they like to see. Hope this helps,

Your scion will limit your alternators voltage level itself. This is regulated by the car so I dont see you really having any issues with the over charge thing. Undercharge would be more of a concern honestly. I run 13kinetics @ 15+ volts no problem.

my scion might not regulate after Dom gives me this new alt sometime soon when i'm ready for it.

I don't know exactly how the car will treat the new alt but he has told me that no check engine lights will come on and nothing else is of concern.

This is controlled by the car an alternator stock or HO will get the same signal for voltage. You may get more amperage from the raggi but the voltage will be the same. It will react the same to the computer so your warning lights would be fine. Keep an eye on your resting voltage 13+ is good.

i have 50k plus miles on my 1400 and its been under the hood for over 3 years. also know ALOT of people who use kinetik under the hood with HIGH OUTPUT alts (most of which are Ohio Generator) and of those many have had those for over 3 years as well without an issue.

R u asking my why?

Iraggi is the ONLY one who has successfully made an alt for scion tCs.

They use a newer technology that Excessive\Ohio Gen won't even touch.

Powermaster doesn't build alts for Toyota.

I'm having Iraggi install it himself with me there so there's no worries.

It's gonna run me around $900 but at least i have it warrantied forever.

i dunno maybe its just me ,but 900 for an alt just seems alot. an alternator is an alternator, the only ones with much of a diference from the factory are the computer controled regulators of the chrysler/dodge's which theres always a way around.....

also im lookin at a diagram of the charging system of a tc , i dont see anything in it which would require use of that alternator only..... a swap is really easier than yold think.....

Iraggi makes a few of alts that OG and others don't make.

Priceing all depends on the vehicle.More common model's will be cheaper.

I have been running my Iraggi 300 for a year now with out any problems externally regulated and all.

Well here are detailed specs-

The alt is just under $600

But with the lifetime warranty, install labor and wiring and other little things including tax - $300+

The car uses what's called a hairpin stator.

All other alt companies i've talked to do not know where to begin.

Ohio Gen has a list of people waiting for this "breakthrough" when they finally are able to start mass producing these alts.

Iraggi on the other hand... well he thinks it's funny.

He said this technology has been around for around 8 yrs or so nd has had success with replacing alts like these just like anything else.

Ohio Gen told me that the hairpin stator is VERY efficient. I haven't talked to him in a long time but he said something like one thing he can see going wrong is (dont know why just what he said) whatever the alt's rating would be for an alt with this type of stator, it will probably be rated as high as 40A more than what it will actually put out.

Now, that's about the most speculating comment so far so i have nothing to comment about that.

This is just what i was told, The End.
