IPODs hate bass!!!

there in my dash so i have the best front stage possible for my car. I have two alpine 406's running from a rockford fosgate 200 watt amp. They control mids and highs really good.

so you have your mid and high on your front dash bouncing off your window? That's one of the worst locations you can place speakers for the 'best front stage'. And you are using a 2-way setup that's 45 RMS. You are greatly lacking in the high/mid department with your setup.

I'd consider seperate component sets - not a 2 or 3 way setup. They make a huge difference, especially if placed and installed correctly.

I just finished a format testing disc. Its 1 song (Beautiful Disaster, 311) encoded in most of the popular formats, from high to low bitrates mp3, wma, aac, apple lossless and even wav. All were encoded from a new 311 cd. I made this so I could take it in the car and see if I can tell any difference. If anyone wants it, Im uploading now...

I never had any problems with mine.

If resetting the EQ doesn't solve anything, I'd recommend that you download the "Rockbox" firmware for your ipod. It is superior audio processing firmware and comes with a much better equalizer, as well as lots of other options.

THanks guys, it was the EQ, it was set to "Super Bass" which totally does not handle bass trax well. I turned EQ off completely and now everything sounds better!

do you have the Bass reducer turned on in your ipod's EQ?

or any eq setting on the ipod on for that matter

I agree with the eq theory. I had posted earlier about some songs sounding garbled and when i checked my ipod it was set to Rock and sound check was on. After setting the eq to OFF and turning the sound check OFF, I could listen to music without any distortion! The speakers sound wicked now !!!!!!
