iPod with old Alpines?

Does anyone know if the old Alpines, specifically the 9835, 7897, and 7998, have the capability of interfacing with iPods?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I'm about 100% sure that they cannot. You can hook the iPod up as an AUX source, but the controls will be made through the iPod, not the HU.

I almost positive that the 9835 will but anything older wont.

9835 should my 9833 worked with the kca-420i

your 9815 will work too...it's older.

I believe that's the oldest head unit that's compatable with the KCA-420i, I have one that I used with my 9815...I was also able to control the ipod from the head unit just fine.

The 9835 will work just fine, not sure about the other two the original poster asked about though.

Thanks to all that responded. I am looking to buy a used Alpine and have narrowed it down to the 9835, 7897, or 7998. I really like the phantom face of the 7897 and 7998, but would also really like to be able to plug my iPod in.

Does anyone else know if an iPod can be played through the 7897 and 7998?

i had a 7995 hooked up to the kca-420i and it worked fine.
