Ipod touch with kenwood kvt-514 Help!!!!!

ok here is what i got going on.....i just got my ipod cable for my kenwood kvt-514 in-dash tv...my ipod is the 1st gen 16gb touch...and i tryed to get the video to play on the screen and it wont but the audio does.....the format for my music videos is mp4.....is this the correct format? or do i need to change it? please help asap...
