IPOD + new computer = cant get it to work!!! anyone

Ive got an old apple 4th gen ipod click wheel. And its been hooked upto this computer for a while, I just reformatted my pc a week ago, and got itunes today.

Problem is I cant get itunes to let this ipod be the ipod for this itunes, it says it has to erase all the songs first?? Is that true?? I obviously lost all my songs in the reformat, and would prefer to just somehow export these songs that are on the ipod or make it the main somehow

Have no idea how to make this happen

Any help appreciated

I am not familiAr with the older iPods so I assume it's the same. What you are refering to is "syncing". By default this feature is turned on. What u will need to do is when u dock to iTunes open the window with ur device. Pull up the audio section and select manually edit songs and playlists. This should prevent iTunes from erasing ur iPod. However I don't think iTunes or the iPod allow importing from the iPod itself. Hopefully this works for ya.

when for format windows you need to also do the same with the ipod. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
