so im stuck trying to figure out how to get my music off my ipod and into itunes on a new hard drive after my old one took a crap. ive tried it manually using terminal and about 3 other 3rd party programs with no luck. (and no i never backed up anything:*******:)

any good ideas besides backing my crap up would be appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

If you are using a windows computer open the ipod "make sure you have manual control on ipod in itunes" and open it in my computer than open file properties and make sure show hidden folder is on than copy and past the music folder to your hard drive than just open that folder in itunes and whala all back to normal. Do not worry all the names are gibberish until it is opened in itunes. If it is on a mac or you want to use a program just search for one.

ive used music resque before with an old ipod that went bad. but its not wanting to work this time time around.

trying to transfer to my mac btw.

Now if the ipod was synced to a windows computer than your not going to be able to do that, but you should still be able to go into itunes and tell it to manual mange the ipod and enable disk usage on it and access the ipod in the finder.

i just tried ipod disk. noticed my desktop icons are kinda grey??? idk. i open ipod disk but instead of opening it opens a folder with my stuff in it. tried to put on desktop to copy to itunes but says theres less music than there really is?

f my life

this is what you need to do, nothing to buy

yeah, that is probably the most simple way to do it, but if you would like look at the files later on, its hard to know which song is which. The Idump program names the actual file according to the name of the song, so it makes for easier organization on your HD.

but...if you are just concerned with how Itunes reads the file...you are fine doing it this way.

:toast:well its a success! i used ipod disk to find the hidden file of music apple likes to hide, then just put everything into a folder on the desktop and once done, i went to itunes, file and added to library. ipod disk window never popped up, just a window with the same folders, so i used half and half of different methods lol, some frankenstein programage right there. i need a beer!

thanks for the info guys, just one thing, how can i get the photos to do the same?
