Ipod locked up...

while playing my Ipod through my Alpine HU I suddenly got an error message. I checked the Ipod and noticed that it is locked up and does not respond. I tried to hook it up to itunes and it still does nothing. The screen is stuck is the same mode since I last used it in my car. This is the second time this has happened, the first time the ipod just started back working after hours of nothing...

hold the center of the wheel and the up button for five seconds

Are you using a Kenwood Ipod adapter?
