ipod eq

so keep the ipod on flat?
should the amp's bass-boost be on flat as well? so everything is flat and the head unit controls all signal changes? If you have an external EQ, do you make the hu flat and just use the etrernal EQ?
I'm no expert, but my current method is to set my amp's gain for the sub-channel first, with no bass boost, and never using the bass boost, and then if the full-range speakers are too loud or soft compared to the sub, I adjust the gains for them accordingly. So, I am actually using the gain setting as a volume controller for the mids/ highs, even though most everybody says not to do that. I have no other way, though.

Preset EQ's are for noobs. I remember once at a SQ competition I asked a guy about his EQ tuning, he simply said "stadium". I couldn't help lol'ing. Dont be that guy.

LOL..... what if it was psychological and he didn't want to reveal his secrets? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

He probably wouldn't have approached me to ask for advice on his tuning then. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

It's faster than saying "+3dB at 50Hz, -2dB at 600Hz, -3dB at 3kHz", etc.

You hate acronyms too, don't you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

wish the eq's came with a spectrum analyzer to see what kind of eq'ing they where doing.
If you go into iTunes, click View then show EQ, I bet the EQ curves in there are identical to the iPods curves. I don't see Apple optimizing them for a computer and having a different set optimized for an iPod.

IMO, flat sucks on the iPod. I use the "Loudness" setting. I've cycled through them all, and this one seems to be the best with my Shure SE110s and in my car. It really doesn't seem to offer a lot of bass boost; it just makes it seem crisper.
