obvisouly listening to mp3's ist the greatest //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif but what eq setting on your ipod sounds best to you on whatever kind of stereo you have? trying to get a general poll here to see what the average person likes. i think i have it close to what i like. but they are still mp3's. i set the eq different for headphones, my car, house stereo ect.

so did i, but for headphones, i would def have to change it. lately lounge has been better than flat in car but rock is for headphone use. i guess it depends on music, system or headphones really, but off seems useful to not add anything to the signal chain.

flats the best. Any eq is bad. Use the eq on the radio with the ipod on flat.

should the amp's bass-boost be on flat as well? so everything is flat and the head unit controls all signal changes? If you have an external EQ, do you make the hu flat and just use the etrernal EQ?

Do what sounds best to you. Seriously.

If your system is already peaky on the top end, and for some miracle reason the EQ corrects it, why not use it?

i wish ipods have l/r 31 band PEQ. Maybe the iPhone has an APP for that.

Be the first, and DO IT! A 31 band PEQ would be overkill though. I can see most people ****ing it up over a fixed Q on a GEQ. While you're at it, add a top and bottom crossover with level matching l/r with the ability to do phasing and time alignment.

X2 that way I know it has not been changed. And if you forget to turn that off before you hook it up to your system you will have a lot of distortion if you have bass boost on.

I leave my Nano 4th Gen on the "Rock" EQ at all times. I've tried to learn to love it with no EQ, but it just sounds much better with the Rock EQ on.

I also like the "Hip Hop" EQ setting ... even though I do not ever listen to Hip Hop. That one is similar to the Rock EQ setting but with less treble boost; The Rock one can be pretty trebly on some songs, especially when it's crankin'.

There's a couple others that are OK, too, can't remember the names, but most are useless, to me anyway.
