Ipod 4th Gen. Obsolete or still kickin?

Ya Ive got quite a few electronics form hong kong all with success, i know in the ad it says 4th gen, but says version 3.1.1, to shit if I know what that means
Likely firmware of the ipod. Once you hook an ipod up, run it through itunes, it updates the ipod to whichever firmware is the most recent. Likely means 3.1.1 and up.

I'd say you're probably alright.

Why not just get a nano? Or just use a flash drive? The 4th gens are ok but you might have to replace the battery eventually if it has never been replaced before. I suggest just using a flash drive though.

My cd player is older, flash drive isnt available, and I dont wanna spend alot of moey on just being able to have unskipping music. just want this 20 gigs, load it up.

Should be able to get the cable and ipod for less than $70

Pretty good if you ask me

Then go for it

you'll deff be able to se at night.

i would say go for an ipod setup with the head unit. i myself don't carry any CD's in my car. i have a 30gb 5th gen and i pretty much filled it up the day i got it. when i first had the option of using my ipod in my car with a pioneer unit it was great. no more skipping, no more cd clutter. only downfall with that unit was no ipod control.

with my 9887 now i get the ipod control on the unit. much better.

funny thing is i'm so accustomed to the ipod as my audio source that if a friend brings in a cd and it skips cause of the pressue i'm always like WTF!!

You will regret not being able to control it through the HU. My last Double DIN pioneer had awesome iPod control, now with the new car I'm using the aux hook-up. I hate not being able to use the factory touch-screen, and having to look down to scroll through all the time.

My first iPod was the gen before that one, I think. It has the wheel and four buttons above it

I never really cared to get an ipod either. But I got a nano last year and a headunit that controls the ipod. The cable runs back into my glovebox, so the people who think its "so gay" that you have "that little gay ipod nano" will never see it. And if they do, they usually end up not caring because they think it is cool how it sits in the glovebox.

because scrolling through hundreds/thousands of songs on a 2" screen while needing to hold it in one hand and drive with the other is a bitch
Well I only have like 100 songs i listen to, and just make playlists, I onyl change the song when Im showing off my setup to someone, other than that it just plays and plays and plays

if thats the case just get a cheap 2gb nano or something, would only cost you $15-20

or just buy any mp3 and use the aux inputs on the receiver

i would only get an ipod if you want to control it through the receiver, mainly because dealing with itunes and all the other crappy apple software isnt worth it unless you have to use it
