8's sound good in enclosures from .7 - 1cubic ft tuned from 33-40Hz

10's sound good in 1-1.5 cubic ft tuned from 32-35Hz

They will not work in sealed enclosures, or 4th order BP, Ported and 6th order only for decent sounding applications.

Any member that has one of these subs; feel free to let everyone know what they are missing. Thanks;)

Shouts out to Audio_phil for the "accurate" specs

What kinda 18's?
2x RE XXX 18"s on 2x RF T2500-1bd's. Going with 4 pairs of Image Dynamics CXS62 V.2 comps on 2x RF T1000-4's up front.

I'm looking for a massive sq oriented kinda thing. I've never done anything like that before and don't really know what to expect from it. I'm not interested in competing, so scores are pretty much irrelevant. I just want to give the Dakota the full "show truck" makeover...

Cool, the RE XXX's are sweet subs, I love the lows the 18's can belt, they don't score very hgh (because their efficiency is for crap) but thats not what they are designed to do, they were intended to sound good and play low with minimal distortion, which they do quite nicely, sadly they need massive sealed enclosures to reach their full potential for SQ. I know you declare numbers to be irrelevant but look to be somewhere in the mid to upper 140's and set your subwoofer X-over somewhere between 60 and 90Hz and let a good front stage pick up from there, some eq'ing on the mids will be necessary to get them to blend smoothly that low down, but all is possible with a capable deck, something like the premier 800prs will do it, 16 band graphic eq and time alignment, 355 shipped from ebay. You'll need the 24bitt burr brown processing to make use of the subharmonic capabilities of the XXX's. Thise 2 RF amps are gonna need lots of juice, as many people as this is gonna get flared up, the amps are very inefficient and the power they produce is dirtier than most other comparable amps on the market. Look to RD or IA for power that high that remains of extreme efficiency and warm nice quality. 1 D9 would run that setup forever and you'd think you were listening to a class A/B amplifier. Mine clamps over 5K and with only 1 8D battery extra for it, it won't dim my lights.

I'm going to be honest. I picked the RF amps purely for cosmetic purpses. I know it's shallow, and really quite stupid, but I'm really interested in having a show truck. I've just started to put money away for the project, so as of now I haven't bought a thing. Some things are likely to change between now and build time. I looked at the Arc Audio SE4000 for quite a while. Do you think they would be better suited to what I want to do?

Also, I've read all over the internet that RE's public listed air space recommendations for the XXX's are WAY off. What kind of space am I looking at for 2 18"s? Is the interior of the Dakota even big enough? I honestly don't know. Do you think I'll be able to do a "faux" wall with built in amp racks? I've been into audio for 16 years, and I've never done anything this big. I had 8 12" SEs, 4 MD-2D's, 4x RE series comps and 2 MD-42s, but I totalled my vehicle before I had the chance to do the build. I've since sold all of that equipment...

what would you recommend for spl @ 3000wrms?
Not sure how I missed this but here goes, last post of the morning, lol.

TB wise for 3K rms I'd run 6 10" ultras or 8 8" Ultras. Both would last a long time and sound fantastic with ridiculous output and striking authority and clarity.

I'd have the 8's in 8cubes net @ 40 - 34Hz and the 10's in 10.8 cubes net @ 38Hz Both should produce in the neighborhood of 145-148dB with musicand tones on peak freq should beat on the door of low 150's

you missed my post
i have a stetsom 4k2d so 4000+ on hand @ 2ohm

I answered it, post # 65 page 5.

also i haven't seen a price did i miss it
you not comming to town today?

I'll be there in the about 10am-ish, no sleep last night so resting for the multiple build. Shooting for 3 boxes finished tomorrow, lol. Single TB 10, 4 cubes to fit in the trunk of a 2000 mustang, and 1.8 @ 30 for a pair of velodyne mcrovee woofers, lol. Gonna put the XX Zeus on a pair of 6's lol, and play 25Hz... should be either impresive or fun, lol.
