internet issues

for some reason almost everyday my internet disconnects then reconnects. i always thought it was my 360, since thats where i noticed the problem, but now just noticed my laptop disconnecting then reconnecting. i have restarted both the modem and router before, but that doesnt seem to help. anyone know what the problem could be?

call your ISP or try connecting the modem directly to your computer and see if it still happens. if it doesn't happen, then your router is bad. if it does, you need to call your isp

laptop is wireless, and xbox is wired.

i have resetted my router before, but i didnt noticed any changes. and im upgrading the firmware right now. i do hope that will help.

well the upgrade is done. let me see now, if i still have issues.

Make sure you dont upgrade the firmware by installing it through your wireless card on your laptop! Burnt out a nic card that way.

i cant do that anyway. since the only way for me to edit my router settings is if im wired to the router.

sounds like your router, what brand is it? how new? try bypassing the router for a bit and just have only your comp on the modem and see how that goes...

its Linksys. had it for about 1 1/2 years. the firmware upgrade may have done the trick.
