Internet Bandwitdh Usage

I have slow internet already, but my connection (even when Im doing nothing) is downloading something. There's no way I can tell what is downloading. Is there anything I can dowload that I can manage this? Thanks

are you running wireless or wired???

My nephew gets on and plays WOW ... crappy router doesnt let us set bandwidth limits so I am constantly being kicked off or cant connect at all...

FYI: if you go to your Control Panel > network Connection Properties.... there should be a little box at the bottom that says "Show icon in notification area when connected" make sure the box is selected/checked... then,

I hover my mouse over it and can tell at what Mbps I am currently connected at...It isnt as precise as that web site that was mentioned but it is good for on the fly check----

I have dial up. I use the show in notification area. When the computer is idle, the bytes recieved continues to go up at 3 kb/s, which is the most I can get. So something is there, and I can't tell what the hell it is.

get a good firewall and it'll show you whats accessing the internet, you can also controll what does and doesnt connect to the internet. i currently use comodo firewall and i love it. and its free
