internal bracing

If you make it out of 3/4" MDF, and caulk and nail it well, you won't need too much bracing. I say just put L brackets in the corners, it should be fine.

 
2x2's work good but you gotta take in to count how much air space they will take up and add that to the total size of the box

other wise you will end up with not enough air space
