wrong=price intel wins show me a amd proccessor to compete with that q6600 for that price. oh wait there are none
I said for gaming, choose Intel. If you want to fart around on the internet and stuff like that, you don't need a quad. I used to run an x2-5600, and it is a wonderful chip. For what I'm doing I can honestly say I cannot tell the difference between it and the quad I am running now. That is until you get into gaming and sit like that.

You're right though, no AMD chip is messing with the Q6600 at that price.

thanks bud. Btw I stoped like almost a year ago to get my life a kick in the ***. But iv always worked since 16 though just only few days a week nows its 6 days a week lol
Since you were a WoW player, your license plate wouldnt by any chance be "OMFGWTF" would it ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif

I would also like to point out that for everyone that is going on about the q6600 and all the intel chips and things like an AMD phenom.

If you throw both of these chips into a machine. Give them both 4 gigs of ram. Give them both the same RAID 0 array. Give them both the same ultra-high-end video card. in benchmarks yes the intel will win. hands down **** the AMD. Now when a human sits down in front of that computer and uses it.... Well a human is not a benchmark machine. you will not notice the difference. Honestly for the everyday user the bigger factor is having more ram.

AMD > Intel

You get every bang for your buck with AMD, I have a AMD 6000+ X2 3.0 Ghz, I bought brand new with the heat sink for $175 + shipping, to get the same Intel processor, it was about $289 + the heat sink + shipping.

look at it this way.

Do you want to save 30 bucks, or have a better computer?

Intel is the best right now. Period. No if's and's or but's about it. AMD may be cheaper by a little bit, but I'd take a Core 2 Duo anyday over a mobile AMD.

anyone who says amd is either broke or on crack.

Right now I'm running an AMD, just because I read they were more bang for your buck, so I got an Athlon 4600+ dual core. No problems yet, no games, just normal browsing/photo editing. It does a lot of multitasking and I have no complaints. Every other computer I've owned has been intel, but they were Pentium 4's and older Celeron's so yeah. When I do my next build I will consider both options somewhat better.

AMD's Puma platform will smoke Intel's Centrino chipset for mainstream users.

I don't really game so either one would probably work just fine for me, but AMD seems to be a little cheaper than Intel. Just trying to see if there is any advantage to Intel.
If you just use it for typical, basic use, AMD is likely a better choice ... Their sub-$100 CPUs and sub-$100 motherboards w/ integrated graphics are considerably better what is offered from Intel and have lower power consumption and heat output (45W TDP CPUs + AMD 780g/Nvidia 8200 mobos).
If you were using it for something more intensive, like gaming, Intel offers better CPUs and overclockability, but obviously at a higher price point.
