Intel vs. AMD processors

I have been researching these two processors and get mixed opinions on which one is better. It seems to be about 50-50.

What are your thoughts on which is better?

amd turion 64x2 on my laptop and i like it. havent had any issues yet. i also dont really game at all. just watch the occasional movie, go on the web and what not. have had many many windows open at once with no locking up.

run amd in all my machines. the only down about these is that the run hotter than intel. but never had a problem with them

I don't really game so either one would probably work just fine for me, but AMD seems to be a little cheaper than Intel. Just trying to see if there is any advantage to Intel.

INTEL, .... AMD has been behind the curve for awhile now.

both bout the same, Intels are nice, I'd say AMD is more gaming since you can tweak them and OC them.

Ive heard this as well. Used to love amd processors but as far as dual core and up I would say intel has a decent advantage over amd.

Depends on what ships your trying to compare, and what about those chips you are comparing.

If you're looking at a quad core then intel has AMD by the balls. The phenoms are not that great. I run a q6600 at work and its an absolute beast.

If you're looking at dual cores, then the AMD x2's are still better imo looking at cost to power ratio. I paid $90 for a 5000+ black edition and have it overclocked to 3.6ghz on air cooling. Hard to beat for $90.

I'm looking for a laptop under $900. I've seen the Athlon 64 x 2 in my range... And the Intel Core 2 Duo in my range... just trying to see which is better.

I got a quad core q6600 2.4 stock overclocked to 3.4 with with ease. intel usally comes with more L2.

& and amd phenom doesent compare in bench marks to a comparible intel quad.
