You can read below to figure out my problem or you can just explain how to add a 2nd amp to a current install.
I already have one amp for my cabin speakers installed & was looking to add another amp for some subs. However, the install didn't really go as I thought it would.
I made a new ground for the 2nd amp & connected it.
Tapped into existing remote wire & connected it to 2nd amp.
I'm using a dist.block (4ga going in, (2) 8ga. coming out) & figured I could just steal one of the 8ga wires from the dist.block. I know both amps aren't getting "full power" but It should still "work" until i get more wires. I connect the wire to the 2nd amp, & my first amp turns on & my key isn't even in the ignition. Pulled the power wire out of 2nd amp, and first amp goes off. I put it back in anyways.
My speaker/1st amp has two RCA inputs (front, rear). My head unit only has 1 RCA output, so I have to split the RCA cable with Y-adapters to split the signal. My speaker/1st amp also has one set of "summed output" RCA jacks & I had an extra RCA wire lying around. So, I plugged one side of the RCAs into 1st amp & plugged the other side into the input of the 2nd amp.
Turn the car on & all the speakers are clipping? I pulled out the "summed output" RCAs from 1st amp & the clipping stopped. Is this "summed output" not for a 2nd amp?
