Installing Subs

Ok, so I am completely new to this stuff. I did install my head unit, but thats easy... right?

Now, a new challenge. Installing subs. I am planning on getting this.

(Opinions on those subs would be very nice)

Now, next step... A box. I saw this box on the internet...

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=260-648

Now, should I build my own? This would be a new experience for be due to the fact I never build anything bigger than a wooden tool box for my dad when i was 7 years old. =P Also, I don't really know much about the dimensions and stuff you guys are talking about, its like a foreign language to me.

'Enclosure recommendation is:

0.75 - 1.0 ft^3 sealed on the 12"

1.75 - 2.25 ft^3 @ 30 - 35 Hz Ported on the 12"'

I understand its .75 feet cubed but what dimensions (width height depth) would be best? I want to hear great boom boom and still keep quality.

Next is the wiring... I have a 2005 pontiac vibe with the stock sub and amp in it still. The sub is located in the trunk (where I want to put the new sub) the the passenger side. The amp is under the passenger seat. Would these wirings be a good place to start? Or should I scrap the whole idea and start fresh? The problem is I don't really know how to get the wires underneath the floor and all that. I don't know what wire goes where. Etc etc.

Now, would it be easier for me to find a local trustworthy shop to do the stuff for me? How much would something like that cost providing them with the amp, subs, and box? So pretty much just for labor.

I really need help guys. As you can tell I know as much about this than Brittany Spears knows about parent hood.

From ur question I am guessing u r using the factory amp. I wouldn't go that route personally. Your sub should have a specific power range and I am sure ur factory amp will not push ur sub the way u would like.

Click the link, he is getting two SD 1 12's and an SAX 100.2

I'm assuming that when he buys the 100.2 he will use that with the subs and not have it sit around and collect dust while he uses his factory amplifier.

My question is: Is your factory amp hooked up to your head unit and power source (battery) right now? If i is, how big is the wire used for power and ground (4 AWG, 6 AWG, or 8AWG or what?) (Power wire is the one going to battery, ground should be grounded on the frame nearby). These wires should be the biggest ones connected to your amplifier. You may be able to mount the 100.2 where your factory amp is mounted and use your current wiring. The 100.2 should have any heat problems where your factory amp is located, but I may be wrong. Anyways you could use your current wiring and then just get speaker wire to connect your subs to the amp.

Depending on where you go the labor charge may be anywhere between 100 and 200 dollars depending on how they charge, and if they charge for removal of your factory amplifier and factory sub. I would do it myself and with more input from the forum here you can definitely do it yourself

Hmm, I really don't know about the wiring. The thing is REALLY small. I will have to go look at it tommarow, and even take some pictures for you guys. Thanks for the help. Anyone else feel free to chime in.
