Hey i got my grandpaws 92 lumina z34 a few months ago when he passed. the alt. is bad now so its been parked and i havnt messed with it for awhile. since then i took the dash and door panels out b/c i planed on repainting them and cleaning up a lil bit. i found out when i took the door panels off there wasnt any wires to the speakers. the car was broke into a long time ago and i figured they just stole the speakers but now theres not any wires. not a big deal to run wires for the speakers tho. but i took the dash out and theres "scrap" wires left for the stereo. i pulled on them a little bit and they came right out. wasnt ran to anything or hooked up to anything. so now i need to run all new wires. power, ground, speakers, antanna and all that. my problem is i really dont have a clue as to what exactly im suppose to run the power wire too. my cousin hooked one up in his jeep when he had that problem but he straight wired it to the battery. is that a good idea? i dont want it to stay on when the cars not on like his does. but im wondering if that will be safe to do and not worry about draining the battery down. and if i can do that then can i just install a switch into the power wire to be able to choose when to allow power to the stereo and not. also im looking to just put in a antanna that goes inside of the windshild b/c i wanna shave the antanna on the trunk. im also lookin to do this on my mustang. can yall give me a link to one of those antannas and do they actually work as well as a regular antanna? thanks in advance.

I'd be more concerned about getting the alt fixed. I heard its a pain in the *** on those 3.4 DOHC's.

You'll need 2 power wires, one goes to a constant 12V and the other goes to a 12V source that is switched by the key.

yeah im getting the alt fixed soon. i just wanted to go ahead and at least run the wires while i have everything out of the car. and yeah i got the car and realized it was the alt and i was looking for it but couldnt even find it. so i looked it up on the net and you have to take out the passenger side axel and all that shit and get up under the motor. normal person its like a 8-10 hour job. so im not doing it. but yeah its early and i havnt been to bed yeah, thats why i wasnt thinking about the 12v switched wire. duh. that makes it easier for me to think about things tho. ill prob do it later after i sleep.

on a side note. YOUR CRAZY!!! 62 leds in the roof. it looks like blue heaven shining down in your car. lol.
