Installing Amp into Factory Head Unit

Life would be so much better with a new HU. I wouldn't bother with all the problems of a factory deck. You can get a new HU for a reasonable price and it will make a world of difference.

Isnt there a wire that goes from the ignition to the factory head unit? Why cant I just tap into that and run it to the remote turn on? What wire would it be? I know there is a bundle of wires that join together into a big rectangular plug andone of the wires in the bundle is the turn on lead going from the ignition to the factory head unit. In my friend's 01 tahoe its the pink wire. How am I suppose to identify the wire for a 03 silverado?

How am I suppose to identify the wire for a 03 silverado?

If you have a multimeter or just a test light you could find the wire by unplugging the head unit and test each wire for power.
