Hi, I am trying to run my amp on a factory head unit from a chevy silverado 03'
04 model. My setup will eventually be 2 front and 2 rear speakers running off
the head unit while I have 2 subs running off a 2 channel amp. I know that the
factory head unit has no connections at the back to support an amp. For the RCA
wires I would need to get a converter to convert the speaker wires to send
signals to my amp. I am currently having 2 problems right now, I am not sure
about the RCA converter and the remote turn on lead.
First question, the RCA converter.. Would i be able to strip a small part of
the speaker wires and run a wire from that exposed wiring to my converter so
that the wire from the head unit to the speakers would still power the
speakers. I am not too sure if the converter means that I would have to
sacrifice having the speaker wire power the speakers? Or can I have both, tap
into the wire to run into the converter to have a rca jack while still allowing
the speaker wire still powering the speakers.
My second question is.. the factory head unit has no plug for the remote turn
on lead. Where is a good place to get a 12v current to complete the circuit to
turn on the amp. I am new at this? I heard and read that you can tap into the
ignition wire but I am new at this and I have no idea which wire is which and
where to find them or how to get to them. let me know how to get the remote
turn on wire working.
Thanks alot.
