Installing amp in boat, Ground Question

In most car installs, grounding the amp to the metal body would be conveniant. I am installing my amp in a fiberglass boat and I am trying to decide how I can best ground it. The amp is going to be 15 ft from the battery. Can I run a dedicated 8 guage Ground from negative battery terminal? Would this be the best way to keep out noise?

Noise won't be an issue. Running a ground wire all the way back to the battery is the only option you have. Make sure it's the same size as you power wire.
