installing 6.5's in a 5.25 location

is this possible? can i mount some 6.5's where my 5.25's are in my front door? im sure it would fit, just have to drill new holes. dont have the money/skill to custom make any kickpods or fiberglass panels so i figure if i can do that, i will. if not ill just get the 5 1/4 comp set

build a mdf baffle...that should give you the clearance to put the 6.5 in there..just make sure you have enough room both in front and behind the speaker.

Or cut the opening bigger. Air hammer with a sheetmetal cutting bit will do it in about 2 minutes. Maybe someone you know has one...

DREMMEL!!!!!!!!!! Dremmel I say man! Or open router.

I did it using a high speed hand grinder.....I have 2 scares from where an 8k rpm metal cutting blade found my tender flesh....

Also, make sure to have clearance of any window mechanical parts, and to have the skills necessary to work with the doorcard correctly.
