Installing 6.5" Speakers in a Speakerless door

Well recently with the help of others on this site, I have decided to install a set of Alpine 6.5" Type S speakers in the doors of my 88 chevy pickup. Now, if you are familiar with the 88 chevys, you know that the doors dont have any OEM speaker locations, but they do have a vast flat empty space you could fit a 6x9 in if you were willing to spend more money than me. Now for anyone who was fallowing my other thred "looking to upgrade my 4x6's" you know I was planning to just hook up the 6.5's to my head unit. Well I have a better solution. My friend recently got a small 2 channle amp and he gave it to me. I tested it and it works fine. I have started drwing up my plan on my door. For my spacers (which will need to be about as deep as the speakers) I plan on only using MDF and just sanding it down really smooth and paint them, should look fine. Here is some pics of what I have to work with.

New amp and one of the Alpine 6.5 Type S speakers

trying to figure out where the speaker should go

Seeing how thick the spacers will need to be

Drwing the blue print. Each corner of the square is the screw hole for the speaker.

kick pods are out of the question. couldnt use my parking break if I had them and they are way too expencive for my budget. I already had the 6.5's from a previous system I built and took them out when I sold the car. No eperience with fiber glass and dont know anyone who dose and are willing to help. still not shure how I'm gong to atatch the spacers to the door though, I'd like it to be a sealed enclosure.

i'd just build a surface mount enclosure on the door that is mounted directly to the door metal (maybe even vented into the door). or at least align the magnet with the door opening. you want at least 1/2" behind the magnet.

I'd prefer to build it as a sealed enclosure. I'm still having trouble deciding where I want to mount the speaker though, I'd really like to mount it in the pocket but I'm just not shure how with MDF or the slope at the bottom of the pocket. The project has been put on hold though as money is extreemly tight right now. I'm currently looking foir a 2nd gob after my 9AM-7PM job. Probly from 7:15PM-10:00PM or later so time will soon be cut short too. unfortunetly this may end up in the projects I wanted to do book //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
