OK here is what I have so far, its going in a 2000 pontiac grand am (2 door)

1 15" MTX RFL sub

2 jbl 1200.1 amps

1 STINGER PRO 0 GA. AMP KIT 3400 WATTS

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3057639717

Considering the wattage, It looks like I will re-wire my alternator. As far as a second battery, I will just stick with 1 unless problems occur. Now besides the enclosure, will I need anything else sence I am running it off of 1 battery?? Does the wiring kit include all that I need?? ALSO IF ANYONE IS INETRESTED IN MAKING ME A BOX THEN LET ME KNOW my e-mail is paintball9908@hotmail.com thanx

you are goign to need to do a lot more than "rewire" your alternator. you are going to have to boost that output up to at least 160 so you dont kill it and even then it will still dim.

ok, so i get the alternator re wond to ____and get a second batter of the same size and brand of the exsisting one i hvae now (so i dont need an isolator), and thats that. anything else needed to be done, also what about a head unit, what a good head unit for under $250.00, (only cd)

still ne to know what mY alternator should be at?

different vehicles are different for what alternator they have but you are going to need at least a 160 and that extra battery wouldnt be a bad idea. mabye for head units look into alpine, pioneer, and eclipse on ebay.

i'd say at least a 200amp alt matt. given he wants to run 2 jbl 1200.1's and they should pull roughly 90 per amp on a daily basis and 120@full tilt on a typical burp setup. i'd rather run 200amp just to be safe and yeah a 2nd battery wouldn't hurt. also, i don't mean to be rude but, you know that sub is literally a burp only woofer right??

it sounds to me like you do not have enough experience to run this setup...

1) it's going to run up electricaly system costs up the wazoo...a NEW HO alternator along with upgrading all the grounds. if you dont do that all yourself then labor will kill ya...

2) MTX RFL? you don't play music with those...is this for comps only?

3) why 2 JBL 1200.1s? they'll probably set on fire or something.

i think you should do a little more research/get a better understanding of what you are doing before throwing so much money into a system..

definitely sounds like that. guessin someone who had the money but not the knowledge n wants to show off to his friends.

you are telling me things that i did not ask. upgrading all my ground wires? i dont think so, just the once going through the amps and subs. yes i am new to car audio, but who says I can not learn as i go. Why cant I get the alternator re-wonud?? never thinjk of that did ya. cause that is what i am going to do.

you can't rewind a stock alternator to a high amperage. it just doesnt work like that. you will need a new alternator completely.

as for upgrading your grounds (aka the big 3) it is something that you have to do. there is your battery to chassis, and a couple other ones that i can't remember, but they are all an integral part to your electrical system's performance. if your grounds ****, then your system will ****.

Well you could just run another ground wire at the way back to the battery. Saves you the hassle of ground loops and ensures that all your amps current will be grounded

ground to batter, alt to battery and 1 other i think. you can rewind a stock alt to high amperage it simply depends on the casing. i had my 90 amp alt rewound to 160 amp for example. also to the guy wanting all this stuff, the RFL is not for a newbie looking to learn simply put. also we are suggesting all this other stuff b/c if you keep a factory say 16gauge ground wires on all of your electrical stuff you won't get the amperage you want. try ******* a golf ball through a straw tell me if it works;).

maybe u shud start off with something else, this is way to big of a system for you, maybe youshould start of with something like Jl audio wo's or w3's or maybe a kicker comp or a re HC, now about that viper you so call have u dont so u can quit lying to everyone!
