Installer-dealer pushing JL'S

Yea filter1 you are on the right track. At my age do not need the thumping base but just want some better quality sound with some low end. I listen to all kinds of music from metal to classical to my present favorite of alternative. I would like to stick to getting front and back speakers so they are all the same though. Thanks for the reply.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
No problm. If I am ever in Jax and think of it, I will PM you and you can listen to my Powerlines with lots of power going to them. You will see what I mean by losing the rear fill. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Another thing to think about is if your HU has an internal amp, you could use it to power the rear coaxials and still complete the upgrade to the front stage. I have accomplished this many times for those that were on a budget and didn't want to lose the rear fill. Just another option.

I would also recommend that you add some sort of subwoofer to the mix for the extended lower range that will be missed by the mids x-over points. This could be accomplished by a single low power low x-max driver which will give you what you are looking for and be cheaper to amplify. It will also take up almost no space. I am actually about to install 2 10" Fi-X's in my brother in laws truck. As for the low cost sq drivers these are, I really like them. I have a ton of them, we can use PM if you would like. I also have the Ascendant Audio Assassin 10". Essencially the same driver at the shop, err my house. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The Fi-X was discontinued but is still available if you were interested. http://www.ficaraudio.com They didn't replace it with anything.

You could throw anywhere from 150-300 watts to either one of these and fill out he lower octaves nicely in very little space. I will just send you a PM. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I dont have rear speakers and I love my current setup but I would suggest getting some sort of rear fill if you plan on people riding in the back. My fronts do a decent job at getting some sound to the back but you can tell your mostly getting sub action when you sit back there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Meh, I never cared about the back seat. I rarely ever have anyone back there, and if I do, I am not trying to demo the car. We are usually talking. I am not going to waste my money so they can have a little extra music at the detriment of my listening experience. JMO.

The 5x7 TRs aren't that bad. They get loud and stay pretty clean, and offer decent midbass response. I used a pair many moons ago.

That said, I certainly wouldn't pay $150 for them.

If you want to add a sub down the road, in your case, I'd recommend a single 8" sub. It will fill in the low end nicely. I'd say something like this would be sufficient:

Image Dynamics ID8 $120

... and a second Profile 400SX to power it. Or you can just get a 4-channel amp and use two channels for the fronts, and bridge two for the sub.

Really appreciate it fella's. I shall take heed and look into it.

The Circuit city down the street is going out of business and had the pioneer

avh p4000 20% off to the tune of $399. Think about snatching it up although I was messing around with the Kenwood ddx512 in Best Buy and think I like it better but was $200 dollars more at $599. Hmmm!

Both are about equivalent in my mind. I'd go with the cheaper. Is it the Avenues CC going out of business? I used to work there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

But yeah, hit me up when you buy everything and I'll install it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Nice offer man but I do not know when I will make it to Greece?

As mentioned, spend your speaker budget on the fronts and keep the stock rear speakers for fill if you want. The idea is that you can get to the next level of quality and stay in your price range. You don't need a lot of power. a PDX 4.100 or 4.150 would be way more than enough for the fronts and would leave a pair of channels available to bridge into a small sub. Adding the sub will allow you to properly cross over the front speakers and allow them to sound that much better. All decent speakers are meant for use with a sub. A modest 8 or 10 in. sub in a sealed box will make a huge difference in the sound of the whole system. Once you've had a system with a sub, you'll never be happy without one again.
