installed in-dash unit but no sound from DVDs??

ok fellas i jus installed a double din unit(panasonic cq-vd6503u) in my car. everything works fine, CDs, Ipod, etc.. cept DVD's, whenever I put in a DVD it plays but with only background music or whatever is in the background at the moment and no speech from the main characters. example i put in blood diamond if anyone seen it and id hear all the gunfire, bombings, people talking, animals in the jungle scene n stuff like that but I won't hear anything the main characters say. whats up with that, what did i do wrong? i put in coach carter and all of a sudden thru the movie I hear a loud *** chopper come n go while dudes are in class. so yea, all im hearing is whatevers in the background.
