Installed 2 ways in place of a component woofer, what went wrong?

-Punch 501s 2 channel to front speaker setup.

-infinity 6032si 6.5 2 way speakers.

-Polk momo MM6 tweeters with polk xovers

I have a set of infinity 6032si's that were replacing some 6 3/4 momo polks in the door that blew.

the polks were components and I really liked the tweeters, so I planned on keeping them and wired them like above.

after completing one side of the install, I decided to compare the new two ways against the polk woofer in the other door.

Starting at very low volume and gradually increasing it sounded very scratchy and after about 15 seconds it all together stopped producing sound.

I figured this was due to splicing a xover and tweeter on the same channel as a 2 way and totally cut that half of the circuit.

Finished the otherside and left out the tweeter on that side as well, ready to tune the amp I fire it up and same thing very scratchy and at low volume.

its almost not producing any sound, as you gradually turn it up the lights on the dash begin to dim as the amp draws energy.

I felt the amp and it was very warm, so its ******* amps from somewhere.

Ive now tested it with another amp and all the infinitys do is click, even when the volume is completely turned off.

and I tried both setups using a known working speaker and on both amps it works perfectly fine.

with the new amp wired up the infinitys dont respond to the music like before, when they were real distorted and quiet.

ur 6.5's look like 6x9's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif lulz jk

edit: ur 6x9's look like a hybrid square door speaker //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

they are full range coaxial speakers why run them through a cross over and lose sound quality?

either way if you read I no longer have the xover/tweeters hooked up.

Im just trying to get the 6.5's working properly now.

thanks for the help.

The infinitys now only give out a loud high frequency sound when installed?

You have a short in your wiring somewhere. Start from the speakers and work your way back. Also check all your power wire, remote, rca cables. Also what is your impedance with all those speakers hooked up.

But the other speakers seemed to work fine and nothing was changed all I did was swap the speakers.

If I were to use and ohm meter what should the completed circuit read or what is acceptable.

well ive by passed the tweeters all together along with the crossovers.

it is just the infinity 6032si's in the front and a pair of kickers in the rear.

still dont get any response out of the infinitys.

they just let out a high pitched squeal when turned on, even with volume off.

right now they are just hooked up to a 30 watt 4 channel.
