So I went on here a couple months ago to upgrade my system..but ever since I quit my job my equipment has never been fulfilled..till recently.

I just put in the system and this is what i'm running

Eclipse CD7000

15" TC-3000

1x Sundown SAZ-1500d

1x Diamond D7152

1x Rainbow Germaniums

Box 4.0 cubes @ 32hz after sub displacement.

I asked a local installer to install it for me..because I simply don't have the time to do it or the knowledge.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I know how you guys feel about going to installers vs simple DIY..so I just had to come to you guys for help.

So i've heard many things about this sub..about how it can get LOW..and get loud at the same time. So when the installer finally finished everything...I couldn't wait to hear it.

I put on 3 6 Mafia's late nite tip and it BARELY hit the lows. (Barely is an overstatement also..) My reaction when I first heard it..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif It couldn't even HIT the low notes..even though the box is tuned to 32hz.

The next day..I put on Air Forces..and it moved a nice amount of air..but thats about it. any other song didn't even impress me. Hypnotize...hardly any movement of the sub

We ran 2 gauge wires all around if that's any help.

Anybody know what could be wrong with it?

I came up with some possibilities..

Improper Tuning (Haven't set the HPF,LPF's, or slopes yet)

Improper wiring (didn't wire in parallel like I said to)

any input?

btw..I took out the rear fill speakers because well..who needs them? So on my deck..I have the function 4 SP+SW on vs 3-way. Should I set it to 3 way?..even though I don't have rear's?

sorry..I'm still a noob at this. Any help would be greatly appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

check the subsonic filter

check the sub vC with a multimeter if you dont feel like pulling it out to check wiring

who built the box? sure it built right?

if its brand new, its just going to have to break inover the next few weeks to loosen the suspension, maybe your expecting too much

i have a tc2000 12 and it does nice in the HT

Yeah Something Is Definately Off B/c Ive Heard The 3000, And It Hits The Lows With Great Authority. Like Previous Post Check Wiring, And Check To See Where The Setting Are On The Amp And Also Check The Setting On The Headunit If You Have Seperate Subwoofer Control Available On The Unit.

Parallel ftw.. tune the subsonic to where you can't bottom it out, should be able to set it pretty low with your tuning fyi

where are you at in the bay area? i am going to be up there tomorrow till sunday night...

i can help you out if your in a fair distance from me...

That box is tuned way too high. TC recommends 4.2 cubes tuned to 20Hz. You should also pull the sub and make sure it's wired right. Make sure the gain is set properly on the amp. I'm assuming it's a D2.

Lots of stuff could be causing the problem. That's why you just take the time to do it youself. You end up having to redo it half the time anyway. I would go in this order:

Check wiring

Check Gain and HU settings

If it still doesn't sound right, You need to build a different box that is tuned lower. I'd go with something like 4 cubes tuned to 22 Hz (Fs of the woofer) and set a 20 Hz or so subsonic filter. Or just call up Audiopulse (new face of TC Sounds) and see what they suggest if you decide you need to change the box.

Pretty sure that 20hz tuning is for home theater use. Rarely do people tune that low in car audio, actually i dont think ive ever heard of it. Chances are its wiring or phase issues.

Just what I saw on their site. People who run IB setups can go that low. HT was not mentioned at all on the webpage. Here's what it says for suggested enclosures.

Small Box

12TC-3000

Type Volume Tuning Fq Area Port/Pass Length / Mass

Sealed 0.5 ft3 NA NA NA

Ported 1.5 ft3 31Hz 12.5 in2 17 in

Passive 1.5 ft3 20Hz-35Hz Single 15" PR Variable

15TC-3000

Type Volume Tuning Fq Area Port/Pass Length / Mass

Sealed 1.8 ft3 NA NA NA

Ported 3.0 ft3 29Hz 25 in2 18 in

Passive 3.0 ft3 20Hz-35Hz Single 18" PR Variable

Large Box (Low Extension)

12TC-3000

Type Volume Tuning Fq Area Port/Pass Length / Mass

Sealed 1.0 ft3 NA NA NA

Ported 2.2 ft3 20Hz 12.5 in2 28 in

Passive 2.2 ft3 10Hz-25Hz Dual 12" PR Variable

15TC-3000

Type Volume Tuning Fq Area Port/Pass Length / Mass

Sealed 3.6 ft3 NA NA NA

Ported 4.2 ft3 20Hz 25 in2 30 in

Passive 4.2 ft3 10Hz-25Hz Dual 15" PR Variable

I had the same sub/amp combo in my passat and it had no problems hitting the lows. I agree with everyone else, it sounds like your subsonic filter is set to high.

Im positive that the 20hz tune is ment for HT, thats way too low for a car period and quite pointless with the natural cabin gain in a automobile.

Sounds like just need to go over the whole install, but everything mention already is the direction you need to go.

who ever the n00b is that said 20Hz for car audio should find the nearest bridge... 25Hz is the very lowest i would go for car audio... anything lower is not practical...

Would you care to share with us what the Fs spec you talk of is all about, because tuning a box to the Fs when the Fs is that low is pretty pointless...

I have an Eclipse CD7000 as stated earlier in my post..

but when I try to go to the Sound settings instead of

check the subsonic filter
how? I have the CD7000 deck if that helps..

who built the box? sure it built right?
BJ Fisher built it.

The LPF may not be right either. I would set it around 60-70. I had mine set too low once on the Mag. It filtered way too much.
I have difficulty finding the LPF and HPF options on my deck. I'm prety sure its on the 3-way system..but I just can't seem to change the option from 4SP+SW to 3way

I'll get on a multimeter and try to see the load..

Thanks for the help guys
