Installation Wiring Question

Ok I started my first install yesterday and it's going errm.. ok. I ran the power wire throught the grommet through the firewall under the carpet, and removed the old factory stereo. I'm having trouble finding the right wiring harness, so i'm going to buy the right one this time and try again tomorrow. Since i'm running just 1 amp as of now, I just need to connect 1 input/1 output to the headunit from the amplifer correct? I don't think i have a remote output lead wire to connect that to the amplifier, or am i missing something..? what does it looks like?

As for wiring the subwoofer to the amplifier, parallel will give me 0.5 ohms, and series will give me 2 ohms. How exactly does the wiring go if i wanted to run it at

2 ohms?

And one more thing, I need help with the Kicker ANL Fuse Holder Distro Block Thingy that came in the amp kit. The holes on each end look to small to fit 1/0 thru so would i bring the brass screw up and put the 1/0 ring terminal on each end of the fuse? Since i'm only running one amp, I would ignore the holes on the end?

Sorry for all the newbie questions, I want to finish my install tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

What's the voice coil config on your subs? dual 4 ohm? dual 2 ohm, Single VC?
If parallel gives him .5-ohm and series gives him 2-ohm, I would come to the conclusion that it's a DVC 2-ohm sub. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

EDIT: How many subs are you running? I neglected to find this out.

.5 and 2 would be a dual 1 ohm sub. if it is just a single sub.

as far as your remote wire it will usually be blue/white from the aftermarket head unit.

if 0/1 ga doesnt fit than you need to get a fuse holder that will fit 0/1 ga.

Yeah.. That's why I made the edit. Assumed he had two DVC-2 for some reason. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Woah, it sounds like you're gonna do something ridiculous with your fuse holder. Please post a pic of what your talking about and we'll help you better

To wire a DVC 1 ohm to a 2 ohm load:

+ on amp to one of the + terminals on the sub. The - next to that + (to make sure it's the right - put a DMM on the + and - and you should get between 0.5 and 1 ohm) goes to the other + on the sub. Now the remaining - on the sub goes to the - on the amp

Yeah when you buy the kicker set it comes with a 4 gauge 300 anl fuse holder, i dont know why because the kit comes with 20' + of 0/1 so why the hell would i want a 4 gauge fuse holder? Anyway I went to Best buy and bought an RF 0/1 gauge 300 anl fuse holder. so i think i'm all good now. be back in about 7 hours with the results xD

I don't know exactlly wich kicker kit you have but I got one and the fuse holder has a brass ring on the holes so you can fit 4 gauge, you have to remove the screw then remove the rings then put the screw back and you'll be able to fit the 0/1 gauge cable without any problems

yep, thats the one.. shit. that guy up there didn't seem to fond of it. that will work fine right?

So, basically... you really had little clue what you are doing and are playing w/ major electical components to your car. I pray everyday for kids like you that you don't wind up burned alive on the side of the road holding me up in traffic because you wired something even just a little twisted. Take your car to a professional and pay the $40 to get it done.

gl tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif you better not live anywhere close to me and wind up holding me up at rush hour.

Oh please. Everyone was a beginner at some time. He's doing the right thing and asking for help from the more experienced installers. Get off your fucking high horse.
