Installation Problems

I installed an Alpine CDA-9856 in my '95 Mustang GT the other day and I have a few problems.

First, When I first turn on my car, before the CD/Tuner starts playing there is a "thump" sound that comes from the speakers. I was told this might be the grounding. If this is the case, how do i ground it? I used two metra harnesses to connect it and the ground off of the head unit is wired into the harness. How do i go about grounding the head unit?

Second, While installing the head unit, I inserted the antenna connection and then pulled it out again. Only problem is when I pulled it out again, the metal end piece came off in the antenna adapter on the head unit and I was left with a bare copper wire. Where can I get a replacement for this?

Thanks

you can get a replacemet at your local car audio shop, its like $5 max. i bought two for $9 last time i needed some for my moms deck. check your ground from the chasis to the frame of your car.

its called turn on thump. its caused by power going to the amp and it sends a sudden jolt of power to the sub, i've never heard of it causing a problem. jus something i got used to when i had it.
